The Housewife Today

Gone are the days of picturing a woman in a frilly apron, cooking at the stove, watching the kids, and running the household. Today's housewife has long since evolved into a powerhouse. She's the everyday-life manager. Organization is half the battle. It's no longer just about handling the day's chores — the modern housewife often has a job on top of it all. Up before the kids in the morning to get herself ready. Then rushing to wake the kids and get them set for daycare and school. Making sandwiches on the side and stuffing them into backpacks on the way out the door. One last check before heading out: are the kids dressed properly, did she think of everything? Got the keys? And off she goes — drop the kids off and head to work. Even during work, her mind keeps drifting back to everything still left to do that day. A woman, alongside her job, still remains a housewife after all. After work: pick up the kids, cook dinner, do laundry, and spend time with the family. By bedtime, she realizes just how much she's accomplished again today. That's her small moment to reflect and close out the day successfully. Now she can proudly pat herself on the back. She's the everyday hero!

The Powerhouse Woman in the Media

It's remarkable how much the image of women has changed in the media over the past few years. You can see more and more companies using a woman in their advertising to express the image of a strong personality. Multitasking is the buzzword. Brands love showing off how many things a woman can juggle at once. Clothing has changed a lot too. Where you once mostly saw dresses and skirts in high necklines and muted colors, the look now is modern, fresh, and eye-catching. Always a cheerful smile on, and in great shape. It's certainly pleasant to look at, and it drives plenty of purchases too. The woman herself would probably never actually present herself that way in real life — but it's the image that counts here. In the end, women should be happy about the shift. The image has turned positive, and that's what matters. Women have now claimed a strong position, one that now needs to be reinforced and built upon further. Where things go from here is entirely up to women themselves. Here's to the modern housewife!
